As a church we exist to follow Jesus and make a difference in our city. Safe Families is an excellent way to make a difference in the lives of families in Birmingham and the Highgate area.

Safe Families are committed to working with, and through the local church to offer support, hope and belonging to improve the lives of those in our communities. Based in over 30 local authorities across the U.K., Safe Families gives training, support to local church volunteers, allowing us to participate safely and effectively in the extraordinary mission of loving our community of Birmingham.

Opportunities are very flexible and range from prayer support to becoming a Family Friend. If you have a desire to positively impact the lives of others in your local area, connect with us! To hear more, check out this interview with Helen from Safe Families.

One local parent we are supporting in Birmingham is living with a terminal illness. When we first met Amanda - her partner had evicted her making her and her two young girls homeless, she felt desperate, scared and alone. She had no place of safety, no one to turn to. Her Safe Families volunteers befriended her and her young girls, helped her move – supporting her to make a home. Her Safe Families friends listened and cared and now the family is part of their church community. She is feeling stronger and empowered and she sent us this message “Thank you for everything you have done for me and the girls. It really means a lot. You guys are family to us.” This is the impact that Christians can have. The church has given her hope, encouragement, and love.
